Branch-hurling thugs have targeted cars at Woodside Leisure Park yet again.

On Saturday, cars left in the nearby car park by cinema-goers were subjected to a barrage of wooden missiles thrown by thugs on the other side of the fence – the second such attack in as many weeks.

Oxhey resident Ian Kersen said he and his wife had to “dive for cover” as the yobs hiding in woodland threw branches and bits of wood at people returning to collect their cars.

Several cars sustained damage, with Mr Kersen’s “absolutely covered in wood and debris”, and dented in several places.

After being quoted £1,000 to repair the damage to the bodywork, Mr Kersen has argued that investment management company Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), which is responsible for the car park, should have done more to warn motorists of the dangers posed by vandals, especially considering a number of cars were damaged in the same way just ten days before.

“It should have been very clear the owner of the car parking facility that there was a risk to vehicles and members of the public, and they should have acted with due regard to public safety by cordoning off the affected area,” he said.

Mr Kersden believes the managing agent’s failure to take action constitutes “gross negligence”, meaning those whose cars were damaged have a right to lodge a claim against them.

The affected area of the car park has now been cordoned off.

JLL has not responded to requests for comment.
