Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning, who represents the Langelys, is currently in lock down in the Ministry of Defence.

Mr Penning said: "I can currently see Westminster Bridge and I can see all the people being treated by paramedics.

"I believe the driver mounted the curb on the bridge and then swerved to crashed into the entrance of the Palace.

"They were stopped by the guards but the guards are not armed."

Mr Penning also said armed police arrived who are trained to stop someone getting inside the Palace.

He said: "My colleagues in the Palace are in lock down which means the doors are locked and they cannot get out.

"Provisions are provided for them and it is only when the inside of the Palace is secured that they will be let out.

"My thoughts are with those who have been injured and are currently being treated by paramedics.

"Everyone should not panic and listen to the emergency services at this time."
