Former Herts MP hailed a hero after trying to save life of police officer stabbed to death

A former Hertfordshire MP was hailed as a “hero” after trying to save the life of the police officer killed in the Westminster terror attack.

Tobias Ellwood - who was elected Chairman of the Hertfordshire South West Conservative Association for a year in 1998 - gave mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and attempted to stem the flow of blood amid the carnage in New Palace Yard near the entrance to Westminster Hall.

Despite his best efforts, PC Keith Palmer died shortly afterwards.

Former police officer cleans up his act after serving prison sentence

A former policeman who was jailed for conspiring to pervert the course of justice has cleaned up his act through starting his own successful company.  

After a stretch in prison and a period spent in solitary confinement for his own protection, which he described as “horrendous” given his status as a gay ex-police officer, Bushey resident Aaron Evans-Keady sought help from the Prince’s Trust to put his past behind him and kick-start his own business.

Man arrested following fight in Roosters Piri Piri chicken shop

A man has been arrested following a fight in a fast-food restaurant in Watford.

The altercation between the two men took place in the early hours of March 4, inside Roosters Piri Piri Chicken shop, in The Parade.

An onlooker recorded the fight and the video was widely shared on social media. The footage was uploaded to the Facebook page “Savage Sundays” and had been viewed 63,000 times just a few days after the fight.

Calls for CCTV after meat cleaver-wielding man released without charge

A woman who was threatened by a meat cleaver-wielding man in a secluded underpass has called for the installation of CCTV cameras to deter potential attackers.

Stacey Marie Miller and her young son were walking through the underpass near Cow Lane one evening in February when they were approached by a man who seemed drunk and bombarded them with death threats.

The 33-year-old was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill but, due to a lack of evidence, was released with no further action taken.
