A school has spent £5.7 million on a new building.
Dr Valentine, from St Clement Danes School, officially opened the Carey Building earlier this month, which houses the art and maths department and an extended study area for sixth form students.
From September, an extra 30 places will be available to students because of the extension, which was paid for with a grant from Hertfordshire County Council and the Department for Education. The old maths building will be vacated and refurbished to accommodate Croxley Danes School in its first year.
The building opened last week
The ground floor includes eight new maths classrooms and a sixth-form area. On the first floor, there is a new art area, which includes a photography teaching space and dark room, and four new art classrooms - this space will be used to house an annual art show and include a gallery that showcases students’ work all-year round.
From 2020, the number of sixth form students will also be able to increase.
