A trustee of Hillingdon's Michael Sobell Hospice will be putting his foot power to the test and setting off from Richmond to Brighton on a 100k walking challenge.

On Saturday May 27, Satish Kanabar will set off on the walk, with anticipation of a hot cuppa of masala tea on his arrival to the south coast.

Satish said: “Until about five years ago, I was not at all fit when I was roped in to join work colleagues in the gruelling National 3 Peaks Challenge.

“Having committed to take part, it soon dawned on me that I needed to get much fitter to complete the task with some form of dignity!

“I joined a local walking group and walk regularly. Walking has thus transformed my life.”

Satish is walking to raise awareness and funds for Michael Sobell Hospice.

The 100k route, starting at Richmond Park, will meander its way down to Brighton over the South Downs, taking in walking routes both on and off-road.

“My plan is to complete the challenge in under 24 hours, so I anticipate being on my feet for 22-24-hours straight,” said Satish.

“All being well, I will be met by some of my family members on my arrival on Sunday morning and am hoping they will greet me with a nice hot cup of masala tea and breakfast!”
