Preparations are underway for a summer festival.

The fourth Woodoaks Summer Festival in Maple Cross has been announced for Saturday, July 1.

The annual bash held at Woodlands Farm, off Orbital Road will be hosting a wealth of stalls provided by local sellers, live music, food and drink, heritage walks and games for festival-goers to enjoy.

Last year more than 4,000 people attended the event organised by Woodoaks Association and money from events towards restoring the famous Black Barn.

This summer there will be zorbing, inflatables, stores and food stalls run by local vendors as well as the annual dog show.

There will be two music stages, with the acoustic tent being run by Sessions Music, who coordinate events and promote local talent across the county.

Event coordinator Emma Darlington said: “This is the third year I’ve been involved in organising the festival and I’m so excited as it seem to be doubling each year.

“This is an incredible space with an incredibly rich history and we want it to be used by the community.

“We cater to a wide-range of people. It’s great in the week when you see people in suits coming from neighbouring businesses walking around the farm.”

The historic barn is currently used for wedding receptions as the farm are in the process of applying for a license to hold ceremonies on site.

The venue is also used to host mum and baby yoga sessions throughout the week and will also be used for more special events including an outdoor cinema screening films in September.

So far the association have reached their first target and have raised more than £50,000 to repair the Grade II listed barn, but need to keep maintaining the work to keep up with repairs.

The farms is nearly 10 centuries old and has previously been owned by Saxon knights, lords, parliamentarians and royalist supporters.
