The grand opening of new paddling pools and splash fountains are opening this weekend.

Cassiobury Park will host a “grand opening” of the new hub and paddling pools, along with activities and music in the bandstand.

The Cassiobury Park hub, which includes changing rooms, a community and exhibition room and the Daisy’s park café, has undergone a £2.8m development as part of a £6.6m park regeneration.

The water park also has 30 state-of-the-art splash pads, jets and fountains along with the paddling pools, as well as “push buttons” to control the water flow for those with disabilities.

Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill said: “Watford’s paddling pools are one of our iconic features that generations of people who have grown up here know and love.

“You couldn’t ask for a better day out.”

The grand opening is on July 1 from 11am-2pm and visitors can park in the Gade Avenue car park for up to six hours using the newly-installed ticket machine.
