Tennis courts in a Watford park are set to be completely refurbished this summer.
The facilities at North Watford Playing Fields, in Gammons Lane, will have a fresh coat of tarmac, new fencing and line marking when the courts reopen in August.
A third court will also be reinstated after it was removed several years ago.
Councillor Jane Johnson, who represents Nascot, said: “This is great news. I’ve been fighting to get funding for the resurfacing of the tennis courts and so I am delighted that we will finally have a proper playing surface reinstated.
“Having this free facility available to all residents is such an important resource. I hope this will encourage more budding young Wimbledon champions to get out there and have some fun and get fitter at the same time.”
The works are part of a Watford-wide tennis court regeneration programme that also includes play areas in Cassiobury Park, Lea Farm and Oxhey Grange.
Funding has been secured from the capital programme - a council budget sourced from the selling of assets and section 106 money paid by developers.
