A West London scout group had a special treat cooked up for them this week after being invited for a fun, bread-baking workshop in a local supermarket.

12th Ruislip Scout Group were invited by Asda South Ruislip for a 'bread in a bag' workshop, with a hands-on session teaching them how to mix and combine the ingredients in a bag, for baking a fresh loaf of bread.

Community life champion Laura Skov also showed them a selection of baked goods from the Asda South Ruislip store, and they then had the chance to taste and learn about different breads from around the world.

“The kids really enjoyed tasting a section of breads from around the world including peshwari, bagels and croissants. They also had the chance to have a taste of sauces and dips to accompany them, which was a real hit," she said.

“It was great to see how engaged they were when mixing the ingredients for the bread in a bag activity, and I hope they managed to bake some tasty loaves once they got home.”

Gary Knox, group scout leader, said: “We all had a really enjoyable morning learning more about food from around the world.

“The children had a lot of fun weighing out and creating their dough, and have baked some fantastic loaves with the ingredients they took home!”
