Police in Harrow have arrested dozens of people following a spate of stabbings and a shooting in a bid to crack down on crime in the borough.

Officers were called at around 10.30pm on Sunday, July 16, after a 26-year-old man was shot in his back.

He was taken to a central London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from the Trident and Area Crime Command are currently investigating this incident as attempted murder.

This month has also seen a number of stabbing attacks.

A 23-year-old man was left fighting for his life in a north London hospital after being left in a critical condition after four men were stabbed during a fight in Station Road, outside Harrow on the Hill Station, on July 9 at 3.45am.

A 19-year-old man was also taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition and a 20-year-old and 21-year-old man were also treated.

A teenager was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Station Road, Harrow, at 9.11pm on July 3, but his condition was not believed to be life-threatening.

Borough commander of Harrow Police Simon Ovens has since told The Harrow Times that officers are “working hard” to ensure people involved in the incidents are brought to justice.

He said: “I strongly condemn the rising violence we have seen in the borough. Whilst these events have been confined amongst groups known to one another, I nevertheless understand the fear this causes amongst residents.

“Since these events we have been robust in making arrests regarding all the incidents and sending people to court. So far four people have been charged with violent disorder and related crimes and a dozen people have been arrested and are on bail pending enquiries.

“We will continue to robustly investigate these cases until everyone has been brought to justice.”
