Schools celebrated unprecedented success in the latest batch of A-Level results, with many students eagerly gearing up for further education.

Pupils across Harrow woke up to good news last week and were overjoyed at the results of their final school exams.

One of these, Jedidiah Osabutey, from Harrow High School, achieved an A* in Maths and As in Physics and Chemistry.

He will go on to study Maths and Physics at Warwick University with aspirations of obtaining a Master’s degree in Financial Mathematics and a career in the finance industry.

Jedidiah, who arrived at Harrow High in Year 11, explained how he was delighted with his results and couldn’t wait to get to university.

“Warwick was one of my top choices, I remember going there and seeing so many sheep near the campus. I’ve already been looking at the accommodation and it looks great,” he said.

“I was very happy with my results and I am grateful to the school in helping me to get to where I am.”

One of his classmates, Mariam Elawadi, also did extremely well by securing A*s in Italian and Arabic, as well as an A in French and a C in Biology.

The 18-year-old will read Italian and French at UCL and said she is excited at the prospect of studying abroad during her course.

“I used to live in Italy so I can’t wait to go back there as it’s one of my favourite countries. And the chance to live in France and improve my vocabulary is something that was very attractive to me,” she said.

Once she graduates, Mariam hopes to utilise her language skills by teaching others across the globe.

Kevin Patel, Head of Sixth Form at Harrow High School, expressed his immense satisfaction at the students hitting their target of 90% of grades at A*-C.

He added that next year they would be aiming for 100%, highlighting the school’s ambition and serving as a testament to the effort of teachers and students alike.

“We are absolutely ecstatic with the results and we know that there is so much more to come,” he said.

“For us as a school, it’s a validation of how hard the staff have worked.

“All our Sixth Form learners have made successful applications to universities across the country and their results ensure that they are all able to take up these places. It is a great finale for a fantastic year group.”

Students at Harrow College were also celebrating as they recorded a 97.5% A-Level pass rate overall, with 58% of students receiving A*-C grades.

And more than nine in ten of those at Nower Hill High School will be off to their university of choice in September, while more than a quarter of all A-level grades were at A* or A.

Year 12 pupils, who had recently taken their AS-Levels, also enjoyed their results’ morning.

At Bentley Wood High School in Stanmore, a number of students said they were in a good position going into their second Sixth Form year.

Anisa Morina, who got As in Philosophy and History and Bs in Economics and English Literature, and Rihab El-Hussian, who got four As in History, Maths, English Literature, both hope to study law after they finish school.

The 17-year-olds said they were “over the moon” with their results and hope to kick on after the summer holidays.

And Shama Chentouf, 18, proved that it is never too late to change your course.

She called up King’s College London to switch from Politics to Geography as soon as she knew her results were good enough to secure her place at the university.

Shama, who got an A* in Politics, an A in Geography and a B in History, said: “It was something that I’ve considered for a while and I’m glad I made the decision.

“Politics can sometimes be a bit dry and I was thinking how, with Geography, one minute you can be learning about the earth’s core and the next you’re hearing about the world’s economy. Plus you cover a lot of politics in Geography as it is.”
