Residents are being encouraged to air their views on where charging points for electric cars should be set up in their area.

After receiving a grant from the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, Harrow Council is planning to set up a number of these stations across the borough.

More than 45,000 new ultra-low emission cars were registered in the UK last year and, in response to this demand, the council wants the public to decide where to place the charging points.

Cllr Graham Henson, responsible for the environment at Harrow Council, said: “Our plan is a breath of fresh air for Harrow as we bid to tackle noise and pollution.

“Now we need to find out where to put these charging points, so they will really be used and make a real difference.”

The decisions on locations will be based on a number of criteria including proximity to popular destinations, demand from residents and businesses, and the use of parking areas.

Those wishing to have their say on the matter are encouraged to complete a consultation survey at www.harrow.gov.uk/electricvehicle before November 20.
