Intrepid staff at a care home embarked on an obstacle course to raise hundreds of pounds for residents’ amenity funds.

A team from Courtland Lodge Care Home, in Courtlands Close, Watford, took part in the ‘notorious’ Warrior Adrenaline Obstacle Course Race at the Woodhall Estate near Hertford, on Saturday, September 9.

Eleven members of staff completed the 10km route of the course, which is set over 420 acres and 1000 acres of woodland forests and lakes, as well as tackling muddy swamps, zip lines, wall climbing and tunnels.

Family, friends and relatives of Courtland Lodge sponsored the team and raised £585 for Courtland Lodge, which will go towards buying a home cinema projector for the residents.

Asvin Jhoollun, the manager of the home, said: “It was a brilliant effort from everyone who took part, we completed the course as a team and tackled many difficult obstacles together by encouraging each other mentally.

“I think what really kept us all going was knowing why we had entered the obstacle course and what it would mean to our residents. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsored us.”
