People are urged to give their views on the potential changes to the town's constituency.

Watford Borough Council and Watford MP Richard Harrington are encouraging residents to put across their opinions about the proposed changes to the town's constituency by the Boundaries Commission.

The changes would see the Woodside ward moved from Watford to St Albans, and South Oxhey move from South West Hertfordshire to Watford.

The proposals have come in an attempt to reduce the number of MPs from 650 to 600.

Mr Harrington said: "The Boundary Review is taking place to reduce the cost of politics and equalise the size of constituencies so that everyone's vote has equal weight, which is only fair.

"The independent Boundary Commission will be consulting for the next eight weeks and I want to encourage people to respond and make sure they have their say on what they want the Watford constituency to look like.

"Nothing has been decided yet and I will be looking at the proposals closely, and making representations to the Commission."

An initial consultation was held in autumn last year and a second held in spring this year, each making subtle changes leading to the current proposals.
