An area is getting ready for its first ever Christmas lights and carol singing event in a bid to boost community – and festive – spirit.

Residents of Harrow Weald, and beyond, will come together on November 26 for an afternoon of songs, nibbles and fundraising.

It is being organised by the Friends of Harrow Weald Recreation Ground; a group committed to maintaining and improving their park.

They have encouraged attendees to bring “Santa hats, reindeer antlers and tinsel”, while carol song sheets will be provided.

There will be Waitrose mince pies, biscuits and orange juice to “keep everyone going” and there will be a collection for the Friends at the event.

The festive lights have been paid for by the councillors who represent Harrow Weald – Stephen Greek, Ramji Chauhan and Pritesh Patel. They will be in attendance alongside local MP Bob Blackman.

Those wishing to take part should meet outside Waitrose, in High Road, at 3pm. The event is scheduled to run until 4pm.
