Thousands of schoolchildren came together to sing a musical classic as part of the BBC Children in Need celebrations.

Pupils from St John’s Church of England Primary School in Stanmore were part of the mass choir that performed ‘Over the Rainbow’ on the live appeal show.

Travelling to BBC Studios in central London, they put their hours of rehearsing to good use by singing their hearts out in front of a packed audience.

Sally Newing, assistant head teacher at the school, said: “The children had been working hard to learn the lyrics and did such a good job representing our school as part of the Children in Need Choir.

“It was very exciting and they even met a real presenter, Graham Norton, who gave them an enthusiastic high five.

“You only need to look at the smiles on the children’s faces to see how much pleasure they got from it.”
