A RUISLIP woman will be running through the City of London on Sunday, March 25, in the London Landmarks Half Marathon event in memory of her dad, Ernie.

Ruth Heron will be raising money for Michael Sobell Hospice, Northwood, where her dad was cared for in 2014. This will be Ruth’s fifth half-marathon – but admits it still won’t be easy.

Ruth, who works at Harefield Library, said: “The care my dad received in his final two weeks was outstanding. Facing something like cancer is never easy, but when we look back at the time of his illness and trips in and out of hospital, the doctors offered such a sense of relief to us all.

“I want to raise money for this wonderful cause so that many others in a similar situation, both patients and their families, have somewhere compassionate and safe to go.”

Sobell needs to raise more than £1.6m each year to ensure the continued funding of essential services, including a 16-bed inpatient unit and day centre.
