A father is on a mission to get ill and under privileged children to achieve their dreams by going to the football on a Saturday afternoon with their dad.
Julian Reeback, from Bushey, has started a campaign, ‘Footie with dad’, which provides match tickets, in partnership with the Freekick Foundation, to a lucky father and son.
The latest recipients were Oscar Evans and his father Gareth who were nominated by Watford Mencap.
Last weekend, they were given tickets to watch Watford’s 2-2 draw with Southampton at Vicarage Road.
Oscar, a Hornets fan, described it as the “best day ever”.
Mr Reeback set up Footie with Dad after his son Jake, 12, spent the first 11 months of his life in hospital, suffering from respiratory problems.
Once home, Jake still required around the clock day care.
Mr Reeback, who has another son, said he would sit by his son’s side “dreaming that one day he would be well enough to go to a football game”.
When Jake was well enough, Footie with Dad was born.
