THERE were smiles all round when Michael Sobell Hospice Charity at Northwood received a £10,000 donation from singer, songwriter and Netflix TV star Kate Nash.

“Michael Sobell is an amazing place and a cause very close to my heart,” said Kate.

“Having spent time with patients, volunteers and staff (including my mum, Marie Nash) last summer when filming my music video for Call Me, I experienced first-hand the incredible work that goes on here on a daily basis.

“I know this unique place should be treasured now and for many more years to come. Please get behind this wonderful local cause in whatever way you can.”

Along with the donation, Kate’s fans helped to raise more than £1,641.70 from merchandise sales during her UK Made of Bricks tour, while a £100 bid has been secured for a hand-painted classical guitar, previously owned and donated by the singer and sold through the Charity’s Ebay shop.

MSH needs to raise more than £1.6m each year to ensure the continued funding of essential hospice care services, including a 16-bed in-patient unit and day centre.

Caroline Caisley, head of income generation, added: “Kate has played a key part in the charity’s fund-raising over the past year, and this additional donation will make a huge impact on caring for, and supporting our patients.”

You can currently sign up for the charity’s biggest fundraiser of the year, Ladies in the Night Walk, taking place on Friday, June 15, by claiming a special early bird offer of £15 until the end of January.
