A HAYES man was today convicted of causing the deaths of three teenagers by dangerous driving.

Jaynesh Chudasama, 28, appeared at the Old Bailey in custody accused of three counts of causing death by dangerous driving. He admitted all counts.

On the evening of Friday, January 26, 17-year-old Harry Louis Rice, George Toby Wilkinson, 16, and 16-year-old Josh McGuiness, 16, were walking along the pavement at Shepiston Lane, Harlington at  8.41pm on their way to a birthday party.

An Audi A5 mounted the pavement at 71mph and struck boys causing severe injuries.

Despite the efforts of police and an ambulance crew, all three boys died at the scene.

The driver attempted to flee on foot after the collision but was detained by members of the public.

Two days later, Jaynesh Chudasama was charged and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey for a pre-trial plea hearing.

He is remanded in custody to appear again on Friday, March 9, for sentencing.

Det Sgt Jane Shaw said: "Three key decisions were made that night, the first by Chudasama, the driver, who decided to drive having consumed alcohol and then running from the scene, followed by the decisions of two young men who decided to stay at the devastating scene and detain him.

“These actions speak volumes as to the characters of the three.

"The parents of the boys whose lives were so tragically ended have, while dealing with overwhelming grief, made efforts to highlight the human cost of dangerous driving in the hope that other families can be spared the pain they now face.

"In a matter of moments, three young lives were over. The loss is immeasurable"

A 34-year-old man who was also arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released under investigation.
