MORE than 30 students, aged five to 14, from ACS Hillingdon showcased their projects as part of the school’s first Innovation Day.
They worked in groups or individually on a project that explored a question or discovered something they didn’t know. They could also design a scientific experiment or build a purpose-built model if they wished.
“To celebrate British Science Week, we asked our budding innovators to submit a project which they felt passionate about and, more importantly, had caught their curiosity,” said Sue Wakefield, ACS Hillingdon lower school teacher.

Completing the projects at home, students chose topics spanning the whole STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) spectrum.
Victoria, aged five, explored liquid density and made a lava lamp. Logan, aged seven, designed and made a hug machine, while Kavan, aged nine, designed a robot powered by solar energy.
Students presented their projects at an exhibition attended by friends and parents.
