Volunteers at a lunch club were “delighted” to be honoured for their work ensuring isolated older people do not miss a hot meal.

Members of the RVS Rickmansworth Lunch Club, which operates from the Mill End Community Centre, were awarded at the High Sheriff Awards, which were held at The Great Barn at Micklefield Hall, Sarratt, on March 8.

The RVS, who were formerly named WRVS and run their popular lunch club five days a week, reigned triumphant in the Elderly Volunteering category.

They were recognised for helping to feed and reduce loneliness among elderly people in Rickmansworth.

Tricia Hedge, the main organiser, says she would welcomes new volunteers or diners at the club.

She said: “We would be delighted to welcome new diners to our happy group, just call in about 11.45am from Monday to Friday and give us a try.”
