Muslims have raised £10,000 to help support a community hospice.

Members of the Watford Mosques & Welfare Association raised the money for the Peace Hospice Care in Watford.

The association’s members raised the cash during 2017 and presented the cheque on March 19.

Declan Carroll, chief executive of Peace Hospice Care, said: “We are touched by their kindness. Such heartfelt and continued interest and support really does make a difference.

“We are extremely grateful to the Watford Mosques & Welfare Association for the Muslim Community for their generous donation.

“We rely heavily on donations and members of the Association have been advocates for the hospice for many years.”

Rasheed Choudhry, a Trustee for the Watford Mosques & Welfare Association for the Muslim Community, said: “We recognise that Peace Hospice Care provides a vital service to the community and we want to support their work as much as we can.

“Many people don’t realise that the Hospice is a charity and that their work is reliant on the goodwill of the public.

“We want to help ensure that they can continue to deliver their specialist services for generations to come.”

Every year Peace Hospice Care needs £5 million to run and deliver its services and requires donations to keep operating.

It provides free, specialist, care for patients, and their families, facing a life-limiting illness in South West Hertfordshire and the wider area.
