A museum is inviting the community to take part in a free consultation afternoon to discuss how a vital lottery grant should be spent on improving its services.

Watford Museum will host the free event on May 26, from 11am to 2pm.

The borough council’s museum wants to hear from families on how it can improve and provide an even better experience to people after receiving just over £175,000 in development funding.

The museum is currently in the early stage of a Heritage Lottery Fund “Making Connections” project, and having received the initial funding it can now apply for the full grant which would enable it to undergo a much-needed transformation.

In addition to meeting with staff and architects, visitors will be asked to contribute their ideas and demonstrate physical alterations using Lego.

The mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “I am very excited that our museum is hosting this first consultation with families.

“Watford Museum is a crucial and beloved part of our history so it’s important that parents, carers and children come along and share their ideas on how we can improve the museum to better support our community.

“The event is sure to be lots of fun, especially as Lego is involved, so we hope to see you there.”
