Cllr Richard Thake has been re-elected as chairman of Hertfordshire County Council.
The Conservative councillor was first elected as chairman in May 2017 and at today's annual meeting of the council, he was asked him to continue.
Over the course of the past 12 months, his role as council chairman has involved meeting many of those who give up their spare time to make "Hertfordshire a better place."
“It has been a revelation,” said Cllr Thake, who represents the division of Knebworth and Codicote.
“I genuinely thought I worked hard for my community. I was sure of it, until I started to meet some of the volunteers in Hertfordshire.
“I don’t even scratch the surface. This is a wonderful county.”
Proposing him to continue in the role, Leader of the County Council Cllr David Williams praised the way he had represented the council.
“I have had the very real privilege to attend some of the many engagements he has attended on behalf of the council,” he said.
“I can attest to what a splendid job he does as an ambassador for the council in attending meetings and events across the county.”
Cllr Thake was first elected in 2006. Aside from the council he is also a member of the Buildings Preservation Trust and the Herts Sustainability (formerly Environmental) Forum.
