A council's new chairman wants to continue making the area "greener, safer and cleaner" district.

Cllr Phil Williams was elected as chairman of Three Rivers District Council at a meeting this week.

He was first elected to the council in July 2017 and has lived in Three rivers all of his life, having attended St John’s school in Mill End followed by Rickmansworth School.

He has three sons with his partner of 29 years, Catherine Perkins.

His dad, Graham Williams was a Three Rivers Councillor for over 20 years, leader of the Conservative, and chairman in 2000/01.

His brother, Tim Williams, was Three Rivers youngest ever councillor back in the 80's, and is now a Watford Borough Councillor and Hertfordshire County Councillor.

On being elected, Phil said: I am delighted to have been elected and I am honoured that my fellow councillors have put their faith in me. I am proud to represent the community of Three Rivers and I want us to continue having a greener, cleaner, safer, district.”

On the same evening, Councillor David Coltman was elected as vice-chairman of the council for the 2018/2019 Civic Year. He joined the council in July 2017 and has lived in Carpenders Park for over 17 years with his wife Valerie, who will also be his consort, and two children.
