Hempstead Road in Watford has reopened following an earlier crash.
The road was shut in both directions after four cars collided this morning. The road was closed between Langley Way and Ridge Lane
Firefighters had to cut the roof from one of the cars to free a trapped driver.
Three people were taken to hospital.
The crash involved a Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus, Audi A3 and a silver Mercedes.
Emergency services were called at 11.21am.
Hempstead Road was gridlocked travelling towards Watford town centre from the A41 roundabout.
Some delays remain in the area.
