People of all ages took to the streets in a night walk to raise money for a hospice providing palliative care for people with life-limiting illnesses.

Walkers supported the Michael Sobell Hospice Charity on June 15 by taking part in their annual Ladies in the Night walking challenge.

The night time trek, which first began in 2010, saw supporters spanning age ranges and abilities sporting bright orange t-shirts and bunny ears as they pounded the streets of Northwood, Eastcote and Ruislip.

Hillingdon Times:

Walkers had a choice between either a five-and-half or ten-mile route all in hopes of raising money for the Hospice Day Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital.

Before the event there was carnival music provided by steelpan soloist, Dex Marchan, male carnival dancers, music from Radio Mount Vernon and a warm-up hosted by Clubbercise Watford.

Michael Sobell Hospice Charity events manager, Ophelia Chambers-Henry, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to all our walkers and volunteers who helped out on the route, and those who have been working behind the scenes for months.

“We’re thrilled with the turnout in our 8th year and once everyone has sent in their sponsorship money, we’ll be able to announce how much has been raised overall.”
