A man in his 80’s who crashed the car he was driving has died.

Last Tuesday, a red Kia Cerato left Park Road in Rickmansworth at around 1.45pm before smashing into a front garden of a house.

The driver, who was travelling in the direction of Croxley Green, was airlifted to St George's Hospital but he died the following day.

His family are being supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.

Police are now investigating the incident to determine what happened. The reasons as to why the car veered off the road are unknown at this stage.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been travelling in the area for any dash-cam footage they may have.

Assistant Investigator Emma Cozens, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire forensic collision investigation unit, said: “Sadly a man lost his life as a result of this collision and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

“A number of witnesses came forward to speak to police at the scene on the day of the collision and we would like to thank them for doing so.

“However, we are keen to know whether anyone else was travelling in the area around the time stated and has a dash cam fitted to their vehicle.”
