The council have closed two properties for anti-social behaviour and suspected drug use with the help of police.

Three Rivers District Council were granted Closure Orders for two flats in Curtis Close, Mill End at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on August 10.

Having received numerous complaints of arguments, suspected drug use and drug dealing, and noise from the addresses, TRDC worked with Hertfordshire Police and Thrive Homes to close the properties, meaning the tenants could not stay.

No person can enter either property for three months and anyone who breaches these terms will face arrest.

Penn and Mill End ward district councillor, Diana Barber, said: “Today saw the culmination of many months of police work against anti-social behaviour in Mill End, specifically in Curtis Close.

“Over the course of the last twelve months I have listened to many complaints from residents, both in my capacity as ward councillor and as a close neighbour.

“Despite being threatened on numerous occasions, we continued working in our campaign to clean up the close and stop drug dealers operating in our neighbourhood.”

Chief Inspector Nick Lillitou said: “Once again we have worked closely with our partners to take action against those who are causing misery for others living in the local community.

“I hope this sends a clear message that we do take these matters seriously and will continue to crack down on this kind of behaviour, using all means available to us.

“I would urge people who are affected by such behaviour to please report it so that action can be taken to provide a long-term solution.”

Keith Gilder, relationship management lead at Thrive Homes added: “Thrive is committed to enabling thriving communities where people enjoy living, so we will take tough action to tackle nuisance behaviour which threatens residents’ quality of life.”

Three Rivers have urged people to report concerns about the use of drugs and anti-social behaviour in their community via the non-emergency number 101, or, if a crime or ASB is in progress to dial 999.
