Oliver Dowden was given a full tour of Affinity Water’s site where he learnt how the plant supplies water for households across Hertsmere and Watford,
The Hertsmere MP visited the water treatment plant in Clay Lane in Bushey where he was led round by the company’s engineers and Pauline Walsh, Affinity Water’s chief executive.
The plant is responsible for purifying water taken directly from underground aquifers for domestic use across South Hertfordshire.
Speaking after the visit, Mr Dowden said: ‘It was fascinating to go round our local water works. The plant processes millions of litres every week to keep our area supplied and is an indispensable part of our infrastructure here in Hertsmere. It was impressive to see it in action and hear from the engineers about their work.
“I’m grateful to Pauline and her team for taking the time to give me such a thorough tour.”
Affinity Water runs an educational service for schools. If you are interested in learning more about where our water comes from, visit https://education.affinitywater.co.uk/
