A housing organisation has been given an award for maintaining an “exceptional” workplace safety record for the third consecutive year.

Watford Community Housing received the internationally-recognised Royal Society of the Prevention of Accidents Silver award for the third year running, largely for ensuring its staff get home safely at the end of the day.

According to WCH, to be recognised an organisation must have “exceptionally high standards” of health and safety in term of staff training, record keeping and accident prevention.

It said staff receive “consistent, high-quality” training in first aid, fire safety and evacuation procedures.

Paul Schofield, health and safety business partner at Watford Community Housing, said: “We are thrilled to have once again obtained the RoSPA Silver award.

“The award recognises the commitment of our staff in working together to keep our offices, homes, communities and development sites safe for everyone.”

Julie Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, said the RoSPA awards are the most “highly-respected” in this category with almost 2,000 entrants each year.
