A “little trooper” got to realise his dream by marching with the First Battalion Coldstream Guards.

Little George Williams aged four from Abbots Langley walked behind the company from a statue of Queen Victoria into Windsor Castle on August 14.

George’s father Dean Williams, 43, said his son had been invited to march by the Sergeant of the guards because he had become so “well known to them” having visited Windsor twice a week for the last six months.

In recent weeks the aspiring little soldier was even presented with a drill cane by the Rifles regiment.

Dean said: “He’s like all little boys, he has a great sense of adventure.

“For me it’s a pleasure to take him up there, the police all know him by name and they all come to say hello.

Dean went on to say George has learnt all the different regiments and enjoys wearing his homemade uniform and telling people his gun is for “ceremonial purposes”.

“He loves soldiers,” Dean said, “He studies them online and will watch soldiers marching forever.”

After George completed his march, Dean said: “He came running over to me saying, ‘Did you see me Daddy?’

“I’m incredibly proud of him. He’s my little trooper.”

George was presented with several medals by his father for “being a good boy”, “eating cucumber” “tidying his room” and being “Daddy’s best friend” – which is his favourite.
