Cassiobury Farm Open Day

Come and visit the rare breeds farm, with Hungrian Steppe cows, Soay sheep, Gloucester Old Spot pigs, pygmy goats, red deer, fallow deer, miniature horses and donkeys, turkeys, pheasants and so much more. Enjoy the farm’s private collection of exotics, including flamingos, meerkats, marmosets, wallabies, crested cranes, pelicans, arctic foxes, civets, squirrel monkeys, reindeer, capybara, tortoises and more. Visit the kitchen garden and buy local produce at the farm shop. There will be lots of fun for the kids with a bouncy castle, face painting, fishing, crazy golf, mini-tractor rides and animal encounters.

Dino Adventure

Aspiring palaeontologists and brave explorers can conquer the special dinosaur trail, travelling back in time to face 72 life-sized dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures. Amongst the trees you might even spot triceratops having a snack, a long-necked giant reaching up for a leaf or maybe even the ultimate predator, T-Rex. Adventurers who complete the dinosaur trail quiz and find all the dino eggs can claim an exciting reward. Trail sheets will be available from the Gift Shop for £1. The Ventura Wildlife Rangers will be offering hands-on experiences with the relatives of the amphibians who shared this prehistoric world: snakes, lizards and tortoises. Hunt for hidden fossils at the Dino-Dig Palaeontological Site; using specialist tools, the Rangers will show you the techniques required to make the greatest finds. There will also be some dinosaur artefacts to discover as well as many stunning dinosaur models.

Iron Age Life

Discover what it was like to live in the Iron Age. Meet costumed re-enactors and learn about life in the Iron Age for both the invading Roman forces and native British tribes. Visit the Iron Age roundhouse and watch exciting demonstrations of fighting skill.

Summer Reading Challenge

There’s going to be a lot of mischief going on at your library this summer. Children are challenged to read six library books of their choice over the holidays and return to the library to tell staff about them. As they tackle this challenge, young readers will also search Beanotown for a mysterious buried treasure, helped by the most famous mischief makers of them all – Dennis and Gnasher.

Watford’s Big Beach

The Parade will transform into the Big Beach for two weeks this summer providing an energetic and vibrant day out with fun activities and games for all ages. The Big Beach is free - there is no need to book, just turn up and enjoy the beach life. Each day shells will be hidden in the sand and for every shell found a prize will be given.
