LEGAL action is being taken by Hillingdon Council against Stockley Park Golf Course Ltd, following complaints about the maintenance of its grounds and its failure to pay rent.

The borough leases 240 acres of land to Stockley Park, to manage and maintain, but it is accused of several breaches of its lease.

Residents have complained about poorly maintained lawns and paths, litter not being cleared, while the site is often closed when it should be open to the public.

Hillingdon says the operator also has rent arrears of £58,333.41.

A letter was sent to Stockley Park in July about breaches of covenant and outlined the operator’s obligations. However, the firm failed to pay the arrears and did not meet the outlined requirements by last Friday.

Council leader Ray Puddifoot said: “The council is aware of complaints from residents regarding the upkeep and is taking these grievances very seriously.

“We expect the operator to maintain the site to the high standards that were set out in the original agreement, but these have clearly not been met.

“Hillingdon is recognised for its high-quality green spaces, with the most Green Flags in the UK, and we will not tolerate low standards of maintenance at any of our sites. We are now taking legal action to rectify this situation.”
