AN attempted burglary could be behind a large blaze at a warehouse in Hayes police have revealed.
Officers have now launched an appeal for information, after Skyline Roofing in Uxbridge Road was severely damaged by the fire, on Wednesday.
The majority of the single storey building was gutted in the blaze.
Police found a pair of oxy-acetylene gas cutters near the fence of Hillingdon Primary School, which is next to the damaged building.
Officers believe sparks from the cutters used to get through metal shutters at the rear of the building, could have ignited flammable products inside the building.
Four fire engines, two from Hayes, one from Heathrow, one from Hillingdon and about 20 firefighters tackled the blaze.
Products such as velux windows, felt and UPVC are normally stored inside the roofing centre.
Anyone with information can call DC Phil Preistley at Hillingdon Police on 0208 246 1447.
