COPS are warning homeowners to be vigilant following a recent spell of warm weather.

Hillingdon Police has issued advice reminding people to keep doors and windows locked at night to help deter burglars.

PC Mike Smooker, a local crime prevention officer, said: "Once the evenings become warmer people are more likely to open windows for ventilation.

"That's fine provided someone is in that room and awake. However, please remember that an open window will allow more than just a breeze in.

"If a burglar sees an open window he may try his luck.

"When you go to bed please make sure that all accessible windows, including small fanlights, are properly closed and locked."

This issue is only being raised because the resource is not there to deal with crime and it is a plea for the local public to stand and secure their property 24/7 in order for the crime figure targets to be met and improved as the current stats on this are poor. Complete Joke... about time we all saw action for what we all pay for!!!
