THE leader of Hillingdon Council has called for former Tory Ian Oakley to resign after he pleaded guilty to his charges today.
The Councillor for Northwood, who lives in Ryelands Close, West Drayton pleaded guilty to five counts of criminal damage and two charges of harassment.
He also asked for Magistrates at St Albans to take a further 68 charges, all of a similar nature, into account.
They are all related to a three-year hate campaign against political opponents in the Watford parliamentary seat battle.
Councillor Ray Puddifoot, said: “While I am both surprised and shocked by Ian’s conduct my thoughts and sympathy are for those who have been victims of either the harassment or criminal damage that he has perpetrated.
“The acts that he carried out are not acceptable in any circumstances and certainly not for those seeking or holding public office.
“Although these offences do not relate to his duties or activities as a Councillor, I would expect him to resign from the Council with immediate effect.”
