A MAN claims police are not taking an incident seriously after his car was rammed by another driver.

Dav Singh, 46, was driving along Pump Lane in Hayes on Bank Holiday Monday with his wife Gurdit, when his Suzuki Alto was clipped by a 4x4 driver who was racing another car along the stretch of road.

The other car did not stop, so Mr Singh followed and tried to get the driver to pull over. However, when they got to nearby Bilton Way the driver of the black Nissan Nirvana slammed his car into reverse and rammed into the Suzuki, caving in the front end.

Mr Singh, from Langley, said: “We just wanted the driver to stop because he had damaged our car. My wife suffered whiplash, and we are both very shaken up.

“We were flashing him and trying to get him to stop but he was driving like a maniac, with no regard for other road users.”

Police arrived a short time later and took statements from Mr and Mrs Singh, but told the couple they were unlikely to be following the incident up, despite tracing the plates of the car to a northern-based building firm.

Mr Singh said: “We got the registration number of the car and a description of the driver, but police do not seem interested in investigating. You just have to look at the state of our car to prove what happened.

“They said to me it would be too difficult to prove who was driving even though we had the details. For all they know this man could be driving illegally, and he could end up hurting more people.

“The fact they are not interested has really annoyed me, if I had a traffic fine they would definitely be chasing me for payment, so why are they not following up this crime?”

Get onto your insurance for uninsured lossed through the Motor Insurance Bureau - the police should have given you an incident number and hopefully all your repairs will be done - Looking at the damage I would think they would right the car off and scrap it. Strange isnt it, the whole of west london and beyond has ANPR on every major road but they chose not use that system and find out where this vehicle was after they rammed you, they could have potentially caught the same driver - But sadly the police dont use these systems unless they are terrorists or if you drive a Van/Lorry to collect taxes for entering the low emmission zone - What say you Hillingdon Police?

Challenge to Hillindon Police:

Are the ANPR devices situated as mentioned, all over the London area for the exclusive use in identifying Van and Lorry drivers who have not registered to collect upto and in excess of £200.

the car was clipped, then they chased the offending vehicle, how stupid is that? they presumably got the reg number when it clipped them, so why try and chase them, its their fault for trying to act like cops themselves.no wonder the police are not interested.
