HILLINGDON Council is asking residents to give a green gift this Valentines Day by recycling as much as possible.
More and more cards are sent in the UK each year and the council says while that adds up to a whole lot of love it also adds up to a whole lot of extra waste.
Some of the recipes for love include composting flowers once they are past their best and putting them in the green waste bags for collection. Remembering to recycle empty bottles of bubbly and all items such as wrapping paper, chocolate boxes and cards by putting them in the clear plastic bags ready for the weekly collections.
