COMMUTERS are to benefit from imroved station security after an investment of almost £400,000.
Rail passengers travelling through West Drayton will be getting a new anti-vandal shelter as part of the joint investment announced last week by Transport for London and First Great Western Link.
A help point linked to a CCTV control centre will also be installed on the platform at West Drayton, as well as at Hayes and Harlington, Drayton Green, Ealing Broadway, West Ealing, Hanwell, Southall, Castle Bar Park and South Greenford. The upgraded help-points will provide an immediate audio and visual link with control room operators so passengers can get up-to-the-minute information about train times. With 24-hour, seven-days-a-week audio and visual coverage of the stations, there will also be three more control centre staff.
Ian Brown, London Rail's managing director said: "Although not part of the TfL network improving security on rail in London is a top priority for the mayor and TfL as we want to encourage greater use of public transport."
The work is part of TfL's £10billion investment programme.
