Olympic credentials: coming to Warren Farm
LONDON’S Olympic Stadium designers will work on Queens Park Rangers’ new training ground at the Warren Farm Sports Centre in Southall.
Populous Architects will design a multi-purpose elite training centre, including first-team and academy natural pitches, a covered dome and outdoor 3G artificial pitches, rehabilitation areas, grid layouts and goalkeeper training areas.
The project will also benefit borough people through use of a community sports pavilion, improved football and cricket pitches, Astroturf training pitch and areas suitable for a range of sports, including netball and tennis.
QPR hope to make the move from their current training ground in Harlington before the 2014/2015 season begins.
QPR chief executive Philip Beard said: “We wanted to work with the best people in the industry to develop a training ground which will benefit not only the first team, but also the academy and the local community.”
