DIABETES UK’s Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow, supported by BUPA, will offer people a free Type 2 risk assessment at Uxbridge Civic Centre on September 27 and 28, 9am-5pm.
An estimated 3,500 people in Hillingdon have Type 2 diabetes without even being aware of it.
If Type 2 diabetes goes untreated, it can lead to more serious problems such as heart disease, strokes, kidney disease and blindness.
Martin George, group development director for BUPA, said: “We strongly believe that prevention is key, which is why we hope this roadshow will identify some of those people in Hillingdon who are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, and support them in making healthier lifestyle choices.”
If you are unable to attend the roadshow, free tests can be obtained at www.diabetes.org.uk/roadshow/riskscore
Those found to have a moderate to high risk of developing the condition should visit their GP.
