A charity is encouraging people to host their very own curry party as part of ‘Britain's Biggest Curry Party’.

It takes place from Monday 18 October – Saturday 23 October 2010.

The James Whale Fund, fronted by broadcast personality and kidney cancer survivor James Whale, is aiming to raise awareness about the issue of kidney cancer.

The charity is joining forces with celebrity chef, Kumud, founder of The Cooking Academy and catering company, The Saffron House.

Kumud offers a unique insight into the diverse world of cooking and a deep understanding of the nutritional and medicinal value of foods.

She specialises in Asian-infused cuisine which offers a healthy take on traditional Indian food.

Your guests will have the chance to win an afternoon’s cookery lesson in their own home with Kumud preparing the ultimate Indian dinner party.

Kumud said: “I am delighted to be involved in this fantastic incentive. Curry is Britain’s favourite cuisine and this is a great way to not only celebrate it, but also raise money for a good cause.”

To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is host or attend a party and complete the competition slip including a minimum donation of £5 per person.

Nick Turkentine, CEO of the James Whale Fund said: “We’re confident that this will be our biggest fundraiser yet. We’ve had two successful years to date but the popularity of the event is growing and this year we hope to see parties held all over the country during the week of 18th-23rd October.

"All these events really will make the week ‘Britain’s Biggest Curry Party!”

The James Whale Fund seeks to help reduce the harm caused by kidney cancer by increasing knowledge and awareness, providing patient information and by supporting research into the causes, prevention and treatment of the disease.

Party packs are available for free through the charity’s website www.jameswhalefund.org and includes recipes supplied by The Saffron House, a selection of spices donated by Sira Supermarket, details of the competition and an after-dinner quiz,.

Register online and receive your free pack and host your party at home, or alternatively at your favourite local curry restaurant.

By asking each of your guests to contribute just £5, you will be making a valuable contribution to the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer
