Feeling proud about your town? You could win money to enhance it
PROJECT ideas that would enhance Hillingdon are being sought for the People’s Choice Awards, part of the council’s Feel PROUD campaign.
Ideas that are popular with residents will be given a share of £50,000 from the borough's Chrysalis programme, which funds local improvements. This will be invested in turning the ideas into a reality.
Individuals, families or community groups are all welcome to submit an idea to upgrade a site in the following ward areas: Uxbridge North, Uxbridge South, Brunel and Hillingdon East.
A shortlist of the four or five best suggestions received by the council by August 19 will be put to a public vote from August 28 to September 17.
Voting has already begun to choose the winner of the People’s Choice Awards in the north of the borough. Projects in West Drayton and Hayes will get the opportunity to win funding in 2014.
Previous Feel PROUD winners include Shenley Park, Ruislip Manor, which received funding for new playground equipment, the Friends of Eastcote House Gardens, for a seating area and noticeboard, and Elephant Park, Hillingdon, for a new footpath.
Residents can put forward their project ideas by visiting www.hillingdon.gov.uk/proud or calling 01895 558136.
