11:23am Thursday 5th September 2013 in Local News
FIVE outstanding projects in the Uxbridge area have made the shortlist for the People’s Choice Award in Hillingdon.
They are vying to get a share of £50,000 from the council’s Chrysalis programme, which funds local improvements.
The projects in the running this year are: fencing for the Peachey Lane allotments; lights along the footpath at Little London Close; improvements to Johnson’s Yard; resurfacing the footpath at Rockingham Recreation Ground and lights along Chippendale Alley.
Residents can vote for the project they prefer online at www.hillingdon.gov.uk/proud between now and midnight on Tuesday, September 17 or by visiting the temporary Uxbridge Library in the Pavilions shopping centre.
The one that gets the most votes will receive funding from Chrysalis as part of Hillingdon Council’s Feel PROUD! Campaign, which encourages people to feel positive about the borough they live and work in.
The winner will be announced at a residents meeting on Thursday, September 19, 7-9pm at Committee Room 6, Civic Centre.
Nominations for the People’s Choice Awards in West Drayton and Hayes will open in 2014.
Last year, more than 2,700 votes were cast in total and the winners were the playground at Pine Gardens in Eastcote, which had new fences put up, Shenley Park in Ruislip Manor, which had its play equipment updated, a project to extend the footpath at Bourne Farm Allotments in Hayes, and resurfacing a footpath running through Harmondsworth Recreation ground.
