UXBRIDGE ice rink was officially opened on the forecourt of the Civic Centre on Thursday night with everyone, including the mayor, on skates.
Cllr Allan Kauffman joined the revellers on the ice and showed off his skills after the crowd was treated to a fine performance by young skaters from the Slough ice arena.
The mayor hailed the success of the venture, now in its sixthh year, saying it had made a profit since its second year in operation.
βItβs a special attraction that brings business into the town centre,β he said.
He added that it encouraged exercise and was great for Hillingdon schools and children.
Viv Witherington, who braved the cold to watch her granddaughter perform, said: "The event this year is fabulous."
The ice rink will be open every day except Christmas Day until January 5 and prices have been frozen for the third year in a row.
