FIVE FOR A FIVER: Where to go in and around Hillingdon without breaking the bank
IN the first of a regular series, EMILY RAY finds five events in the Hillingdon area you can attend for £5 or less.
A Splash of Colour (Feb 8-12) This touring photography exhibition comes to Stockley Park for five days, with free entry for all. Featuring work from 21 artists, the work explores the concept of colour and the various emotions they can evoke.
When Harry Met Sally (Feb 11) The classic romantic comedy starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal is brought to the Compass Theatre for a pre-Valentine’s showing. Starting at 2pm, entry is just £5.
Talk On History of RAF Northolt (Feb 12) Station historian Sgt Mark Bristow invites people to Ruislip Manor Library for a talk on the history behind RAF Northolt. The talk starts at 2pm and is expected to end at 3:30. Entry is free, but, as places are limited, it’s advised you book your place in advance with library staff.
Band Night (Feb 13) Local bands take to the stage of the Compass Theatre for an evening of live music, headlined by Since May. Other performances come from 9th Era and The Scapegoats. It’s cheaper to buy online in advance (£5, plus a £1.25 transaction fee), or £4 for under 18s.
Tea and Chair Dance (Feb 14) As part of Northwood Wellbeing Day, over-55s can head down to Fairfield Hall for a gentle knees-up from 11am-4pm. Healthy living experts will be on hand for advice on leading a healthier lifestyle, while a free buffet lunch will be provided. The best part? Entry is free.
