FIVE FOR A FIVER: Where to go in and around Hillingdon this coming week for £5 or less
THE first of the May bank holiday weekends is here, bringing with it an abundance of new activities and events for Hillingdon residents to try.
Here are my top five suggested items in the borough for under £5.
Monday, May 5
Embrace your inner Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers at the Tappenings Tap Dance group at The Meadows Community Centre, West Drayton. Suitable for beginners and intermediates, the one-hour class begins at 7.30pm. Entry is £5 per person; call Penny Smith on 01895 420409/07771872592 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Thursday, May 8
Bokwa aims to get participants fit through the art of drawing letters and numbers with their feet while performing an energising routine. Sounds fun? Try it out at West Drayton Community Centre for just £2. The 45-minute class begins at 6pm.
Saturday, May 10
West London Auto Jumble at Queensmead School, South Ruislip, provides motorheads with the opportunity to pick up classic car parts, or visit a classic and collector car show. Rides and a bouncy castle will also seek to keep children amused. Entry before 8am is £5 per person. Between 8am and 3pm, entry costs £2.50.
Saturday, May 10
Kingsmead Sailing Club, Horton, is hosting an open day, with guests able to try dinghy sailing for free. Starting at 11am, the event runs until 4pm and includes a chance for guests to win free sailing lessons or membership for 2014.
Sunday, May 11
Try something different with your bank holiday weekend and attend Hayes Canal and Craft Fair at High Point Village, Station Approach . The free event offers the chance for guests to explore the floating market, while live music, face painting and a treasure hunt provides entertainment throughout the day. Boat rides are also available for £1.
