PEOPLE in West Drayton and the surrounding area are invited to on a Dementia Adventure at Care UK’s The Burroughs home this Friday from 2-4pm.

At the free event, which coincides with Dementia Awareness Week, Neil Mapes, from Dementia Adventure, will be joining the team at The Burroughs to share his knowledge and provide practical tips for those caring for someone living with dementia.

Neil will be helping people understand the condition as well as giving guidance on how families affected can continue to communicate and connect with their loved ones.

He will also answer any questions, and there will be an opportunity for members of the public to meet the carers at The Burroughs.

Dementia Adventure specialises in connecting people living with dementia and carers with adventure. Neil’s ethos is to look at what the person can do, not what they can’t.

Josephine Thomas, home manager at The Burroughs, said: “Being armed with plenty of expert advice and information can make all the difference for those caring for loved ones living with dementia.”

Dementia affects 820,000 people in the UK and 25 million people have a close friend or family member living with the condition.
